We went to MFA this weekend and stopped by Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum cafe for lunch. This was one of the better meals I've had in a Boston restaurant in a while. Started with parsnip soup with smoked scallops. Just great. The modern addition to the museum opened in The Renzo Piano–designed building houses a music hall, exhibit space, and conservation labs, where Gardner's works can be repaired and preserved. Beethoven was urged to write the piece by English violinist George Bridgetower, and the two played the premiere together. Beethoven was so thrilled with Bridgetower’s playing that he actually ran across the stage to embrace him in between movements in the middle of the concert. Elated with their successful debut.
